El costo de los paneles solares es de aproximadamente 50 dólares por m2
“Un sistema de energía solar abastece todas las necesidades eléctricas en mi casa”. Así de llano lo asegura Luis Enrique Raygada, un ingeniero mecánico quien no sólo conoce bien el tema de las energías alternativas, sino que además se beneficia de ellas. Su casa es, probablemente, una de las pocas en Venezuela que no sufre los avatares del racionamiento.
Raygada, ingeniero mecánico egresado de la Universidad Metropolitana, vive en un apartamento, en La Alameda, en Caracas, de 200 metros cuadrados, con tres habitaciones. Como prácticamente cualquier hogar, tiene lavadora, secadora, televisores, computadora y lámparas. Ninguno de esos aparatos funciona con energía que no provenga de la que captan los paneles solares de 20 metros cuadrados instalados en la terraza de su apartamento. Asegura que eso es suficiente para derribar dos mitos, a los que se le atribuye el lento desarrollo de esta tecnología: “Uno es que la energía solar no es solamente para encender bombillitos en el campo o la playa; el otro es lo supuestamente costoso. En mi caso instalar los paneles y las baterías implicó, aproximadamente, 10% del costo total de mi casa y cubre el 100% de mi hogar. Lo mejor es que, hasta ahora, nunca me ha fallado”.
El ingeniero precisa que invirtió una suma cercana a los 15 mil dólares para instalar su sistema de energía solar: “Eso me da un costo de más o menos 50 dólares por metro cuadrado de mi casa, y me la cubre completa”.
Raygada destaca que por cuestiones regulatorias tiene una conexión de Cadafe (Compañía Anónima de Administración y Fomento Eléctrico), pero no utiliza en lo absoluto ese servicio. Los únicos aparatos que, asegura, no funcionan con la energía solar son la cocina y el calentador del agua, pues para ello utiliza gas.
El ingeniero subraya que las ventajas de mantener un hogar funcionando a 100% con energía que proviene del Sol se pierden de vista. Entre ellas menciona “el hecho de que la fuente de suministro es tuya, nadie te la quita, y de paso es gratis. Además, con ella contribuimos a mantener al planeta más limpio, porque generar este tipo de energía no produce desechos ni arroja emisiones. Además, tampoco dependemos de combustible, imprescindible para algunas plantas eléctricas”.
Este tipo de iniciativas suelen ser comunes en zonas alejadas de las grandes ciudades donde hay dificultades para proveerse del servicio eléctrico. Raygada dice no conocer una instalación como la suya en otra parte de Caracas; pero subraya que su caso particular “es muestra de que la energía solar no solamente puede satisfacer la demanda en un pueblito lejano; también funciona a la perfección en las grandes ciudades”.
Alternativas disponibles Raygada es miembro de la firma peruana Entelin, dedicada a la instalación de sistemas de energía solar. Uno de los productos de esta empresa es un portón electrónico para condominios que se nutre de la energía proveniente del Astro Rey; su costo es de 8 mil bolívares fuertes. También existe el kit de respaldo residencial, que acumula energía para cuatro horas y cubre las necesidades básicas de un hogar. Su costo es de 15 mil bolívares fuertes.
